What is The Visible Threads project?
The Visible Threads project is learning about teenager's brain. Often times, we as teenagers why we did a certain action and regret it later. We wonder why we decided to put our tongue against a frozen pole, or why we do all these mischievous actions. There is an answer to how the brains of teenagers work.
Through this project, each group would create: a t-shirt design, a small informative booklet, and an interactive activity relating to our topic.

My Group
My group's topic we wanted to advocate and learn more about was Teen Depression.
My group members were: Sofi Sanchez Vanessa Anguiano Jose Gutierrez |
My group and I advocated against the stigmas of depression. People always have the idea of depression being a choice, but it is not a choice at all. Depression is not a synonym for sad; it is a mental illness. One out of eight teens get depression; and they are many different reasons why that can happen such as: a traumatic event, school grades, their social status, their family life, and many more.
In the beginning of the Teen Brain Health project, I didn’t know anything about the brain. What were the different parts of the brain, the different mental illnesses on the brain but; throughout the project, I have learned a lot about the neurobiology and brain health. For example, the mind map. I learned a lot of the brand new vocabulary and I organized them according to relatability and definitions. All of my mind maps showed my learning really well because of the good grades it got. |
